Excem Technologies and MYDAS are the heirs of the activities developed in the group regarding the fields of National Defence and Security and Information and Communications Technologies.
MYDAS, a security company authorized by the Spanish Ministry for Home Affairs, was created in the mid-1980s and is the first company in the Group to commercialize Security and Protection technologies, and dual Security and Defence technologies.
The first projects are carried out in the field of access control and perimeter protection with implementation in various solutions for emblematic clients, such as RENFE, Banco de España, RTVE, Ministry of Finance, Unión Fenosa, etc.
The first activities of the Group in the Defence and Security field date back to the end of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s, and are part of Electro-Optics projects, in cooperation with the Israeli companies ELOP and OPGAL:
- SIRO Project for the supply of night vision systems for coastal surveillance to the Civil Guard in cooperation with the National Company ENOSA.
- Optical test bench for the CIDA – Spanish Navy
One of the most fruitful cooperation of Excem Group also dates back to the beginning of the 90s.
At the beginning of the 90s, Excem established a close cooperation in the field of Intelligence, Security and Defense, such as the company EFRAT (now Verint Systems), which has continued to this day.
This cooperation succeeded in 1992 with a project to supply military communications analysis systems for the Spanish Ministry of Defence.
Since 1992, the exclusive cooperation of Excem and Verint, for the commercialization and support of Verint Systems’ systems, has led us to implement a wide variety of projects in the field of National Intelligence, Defence and Security, as in the field of Police and law enforcement, in multiple clients in Spain and Andorra, such as the Ministry of Defence, Department of Customs and Special Taxes of the Spanish Tax Agency, Civil Guard and National Police (of the Ministry of Home Affairs), Autonomous Police of the Basque Country (Department of Home Affairs of the Basque Government), Catalan Autonomous Police (Department of Home Affairs of the Government of Catalonia), Department of Home Affairs of the Government of Andorra, etc. and Telecommunications Operators in Regulatory compliance such as Telefónica, Orange- Jazztel, Yoigo-Masmóvil, Andorra Telecom, Colt, NeoSky, etc.
In 1994, Excem and Efrat (through its subsidiary Comvese Network Systems) extended its close cooperation to the field of projects and services for Telecommunications Operators and Service Providers.
Again, the cooperation results in a success that leads Excem and its partner Comverse Network Systems to sign, in 1995, the first cooperation agreement with the company Airtel (nowadays Vodafone), provider of Mobile Telecommunications Services in Spain, for the supply of Voice mail and messaging systems for the services to its subscribers.
Between 1995 and 2010, this cooperation materialized in supply agreements for voice and message mail platforms and added-value and billing services, with the largest operators and service providers in the market for supply, such as Vodafone, Telefónica Movistar and Telefónica de España, UNI2, Madritel, Mint, Retena/Reterioja and Supercable de Andalucia, Retevision, Orange (Amena), Euskaltel, Ono, Andorra Telecom, etc.
In the Cybersecurity field, Excem, together with Verint, has provided IDS protection systems for the General State Administration’s CORA program.
In 2003, Excem Technologies established a cooperation agreement with the Chinese company Nuctech for the commercialization, supply and support of X-ray Inspection and Scanning systems in Spain.
In 2006, Excem and Nuctech received the first order from the Department of Customs and Special Taxes of the Spanish Tax Agency for the supply and maintenance of 3 mobile container inspection systems for the ports of Bilbao, Vigo and Las Palmas.
In 2010, Excem and its partner Nuctech were awarded the first contract with AENA, for the supply and maintenance of inspection systems of LAGs liquids for several airports in the AENA network. Subsequently, the cooperation with AENA has been extended with the provision of a hand luggage inspection system for practically most airports in the AENA network.
In 2012, Excem received the award from the Port of Tarragona of a relocatable container inspection system, which is one of the best scanners in the market.
In 2014, Excem was the first successful bidder for the Department of Customs and Special Taxes of the Spanish Tax Agency of the support and maintenance contract for the Megaport systems in the ports of Algeciras, Valencia, Barcelona, Bilbao, Vigo and Las Palmas, which has been renewed and expanded in scope during 2018.
Likewise, in 2016, Excem and Verint extended their cooperation in the field of Video Analytics and Intelligence solutions for the commercialization and support of advanced systems in this field, and today, we are in advanced cooperation in project management.
In 2017, Excem received the award by ADIF of the radioscopy framework agreement, which has enabled us to receive several requests for the installation of luggage and baggage inspection systems in the main high-speed ADIF train stations.
Today, Excem is an authorized company by the Nuclear Safety Council, which supplies and maintains the X-ray systems of our Nuctech partners in Spain.
